Wisdom Tooth X-ray

Here is an example of a dental xray showing a lower left third molar (wisdom tooth) with a mesio-angular impaction against the distal root of the lower right second molar. Should this tooth be symptomatic a radiograph is essential aid for a full assessment of the situation and planning of an extraction if required by the dentist. Of particular significance is that this tooth is ID nerve canal related (in close proximity to the inferior dental nerve canal). Extraction would entail planning the oral surgery procedure by the dentist to try and prevent any damage to this structure.
