Wisdom Tooth X-ray

The xray shown here, taken by a dentist shows an unerupted and horizontally impacted lower right third molar (wisdom tooth). Of interest and one of the reasons for taking such dental radiographs is to look at the proximity of the root to the inferior dental nerve canal highlighted by the pink dots. If an extraction was decided upon, it would be planned and carried out so as to avoid damaging this structure.
