Wisdom Tooth X-ray
The teeth shown in this dental xray are the lower right first, second and third molars. The lower right third molar (wisdom tooth) is unerupted, due to its mesio-angular impaction against the distal surface of the lower right second molar. The first molar can be seen to have an occlusal restoration in place seen as the white radio-opaque area on the top coronal aspect. The lower second molar appears to show the presence of occlusal decay seen as the radiolucent (dark) central region in the crown of the tooth. The depth of the decay can seen to be encroaching very close to the pulp chamber and may necessitate the dentist to carry out a route canal treatment or extraction of the tooth.
