Porcelain Inlay Photograph
The ‘before’ intra oral dental photograph shows a premolar and molar tooth with an existing amalgam restoration. The ‘after’ intra oral photo, shows the same teeth after the amalgam restorations have been replaced with porcelain inlays. Such inlays can also be made of gold or composite resin. It involves a two phase procedure for the dentist which requires impressions of the prepared cavity, followed by fabrication and fitting of the definitive restoration. These are different from onlays in that onlays extend to cover or replace one or more of the cusps of a tooth. Porcelain inlays and onlays are highly aesthetically pleasing restorations that provide strength and durability. They are a considered treatment option where the emphasis is on cosmetic dentistry.
