Gold Incisal Edge Restoration Photograph
These intra oral dental photos show a gold incisal edge restoration. The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows the incisor tooth to be restored. The ‘after’ intra oral photo, shows the same incisor tooth prepared to a shape than can accommodate the restoration. A silicone impression of the dental arches is then taken. Models made from these impressions are then used by the dental laboratory to fabricate the gold incisal edge restoration. This finished restoration can be seen in the bottom left photo. As well as covering the incisal edge, it partially wraps around the mesial and distal aspects (sides of the tooth) and extends to cover the palatal (back) aspect of tooth, all of which facilitate retention of the restoration onto the tooth. The dentist cements this onto the tooth at the second dental surgery visit. Anterior gold restorations are to the cosmetic satisfaction of some patients.
