Gold Onlay Photograph
These intra oral dental photos show the restoration of a decayed hypoplastic molar tooth with a gold onlay restoration. The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows an overview of the tooth prior to restoration. Decay can be seen on the mesial (front) aspect of the tooth and an existing amalgam restoration is visible on the occlusal surface of the tooth. The ‘after’ intra oral photo shows the tooth once cavity preparation has been carried out on the first dental appointment. Once this has been achieved, a silicone impression of the prepared tooth is taken and a temporary restoration is placed over the tooth. The dental laboratory then fabricates the gold onlay restoration on models of the teeth produced from the impressions. The ‘after’ intra oral photo shows the final gold onlay restoration, which has been cemented by the dentist on to the prepared tooth at the second dental surgery visit.
