Implant assisted over-denture reconstruction
These dental intra oral photos show implant retained upper and lower full dentures, where the patient is completely edentulous (all teeth absent). A dental implant is a prosthetic device usually made of titanium, surgically implanted by a dentist into the jaw bone. These can be used to anchor crowns, bridges or as in this case dentures. The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows a view of the implant retainers after surgically placement. The ‘after’ intra oral photos show the final dentures seated in the mouth. The retention mechanism in this instance is that of a clip on ball and socket design. The dentures seen in the lower picture are fabricated with hollow sockets which clip over the corresponding ball headed implant retainers.
