Dentures
The ‘before’ intra oral dental photo shows an upper anterior view of a patient with all four incisors (both central and lateral) missing. The ‘after’ intra oral photo shows the same view with an upper removal prosthesis (upper partial acrylic denture) in place. The lower intra oral shows a palatal view of the denture out of the mouth. On the first dental surgery visit, preliminary impressions are taken of the mouth from which models are made and ‘special trays’ are fabricated to accurately fit the patient’s mouth. These are then used to take a master impression on the second dental surgery visit. At this visit a recording of the patients jaw relationship is taken as well as shade selection of the teeth to be on the denture to match the natural teeth present. Subsequently a replica of the would-be denture is constructed initially in wax, which can then be tried in the mouth on the third dental surgery visit. If the fit and cosmetic appearance is to the satisfaction of both dentist and patient the laboratory then produces the final finished denture which the patient has fitted on the final dental visit.
