Porcelain Crown
Here is shown an example of cosmetic dentistry carried out by the dentist to achieve a more aesthetic smile appearance. The ‘before’ intra oral photo (top left), shows the markedly in standing upper right lateral incisor. This is clearly illustrated in the intra oral palatal view of the teeth (bottom left photo). The first stage of treatment involved the dentist electively carrying out a route canal treatment. This was followed by complete crown reduction and fabrication fitting of a gold post and core. This is shaped and angled in a much more favourable position to that of the original crown of the tooth. The ‘after’ intra oral photo (top right) shows the gold core and post cemented into the root. A porcelain crown was fabricated to fit over the post core. The ‘after’ intra oral (lower right) shows the improved cosmetic appearance with the final fitted crown giving the patient the smile they wished to have.
