Composite Restorations
The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows the tooth to be restored. The ‘prepared tooth’ picture shows the same tooth after being prepared. The ‘after’ picture shows the final fitted composite onlay restoration. Indirect restorations generally require two visits to the dental surgery. The first visit involves preparing the tooth so that it will be able to support and retain a custom manufactured restoration. Impression which record the shape of the preparation and dental arches are taken by the dentist and sent to the dental laboratory where the restoration is fabricated. The patient has an intermediate temporary restoration placed over the prepared tooth. The final composite onlay is placed using a cement to adhere it the prepared tooth on the second visit.
