Composite Restorations
These intra oral dental photos show decay on the buccal (outer) surface of a molar tooth. The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows the cavity before restoration by a dentist. The ‘after’ intra oral picture (top right) shows the tooth after the removal of decay and the preparation of the cavity for a restoration. The ‘after’ intra oral picture (bottom) shows the final dental restoration once the composite resin material has been placed and polished. The reason for a choice of a composite resin restoration in this instance was both to restore decayed tooth structure and to provide an aesthetically pleasing filling. Composite resin materials are available in a choice of shades, and different shades can be blended to match the colour of the tooth to achieve the most pleasing cosmetic result.
