Bridge Work - Anterior Fixed-Fixed Bridge

These intra oral photos show the placement of an anterior fixed-fixed dental bridge restoration. A bridge restoration is a permanent prosthesis replacing one or more missing teeth. They are held in place by cementation or adhesion to abutment teeth or implants adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth. Each missing tooth replaced by a bridge is referred to as a pontic. Each aspect of a bridge which is attached to a tooth or implant is known as a retainer. The ‘before’ intra oral photo shows an anterior view of a patient’s dentition before treatment, from which it can be seen that the canine has an existing crown restoration . The patient has been wearing an upper removable denture to replace the missing four upper incisors. The ‘after’ intra oral photo shows an anterior view of the mouth after the dentist has completed a fixed-fixed bridge restoration. In this case a six unit bridge, the four incisor teeth being bridge pontics and the upper left and right canines bridge retainers.

The video of this dental procedure shown here is included in our Video Stream Gallery and on our CAM.e.ROM  CD available to order online.
